abstract Polyvinyl resin plastisol compositions comprise a polyvinyl resin, a plasticizers therefore and a viscosity stabilizer consisting of an organic acid ester of an aliphatic trihydric alcohol containing at least one fatty acid ester group possessing 2 to 5 carbon atoms in the acyl group and at least one aliphatic carboxylic acid ester group possessing at least 6 carbon atoms in the acyl group. The resin may be polyvinyl chloride, copolymers of vinyl chloride and vinylidene chloride and mixtures thereof. The plasticizer may be tricresyl phosphate, triethylene glycol dicaprylate and phthalate esters of mixtures of monohydric alcohols containing 7 to 9 carbon atoms. Lists of suitable fatty and aliphatic acids and trihydric alcohols are given and specified esters include glyceryl monooleate diacetate, glyceryl dioleate monoacetate, glyceryl monoeliadate dipropionate glyceryl dierucate monobutyrate, glyceryl dipalmitate mono-isovalerate, glyceryl mono-non enoate diisobutyrate, glyceryl monooleate monostearate monoacetate, glycerol monononenoate monoerucate monovalerate, glyceryl monooleate monolaurate monopropionate and glyceryl monostearate monolaurate monoacetate. The compositions may also contain glycols, e.g. tetramethylene glycol, dimethyltetramethylene glycol, hexylene glycol, ethylene glycol, butane diols, trimethylene glycol and triethylene glycol, and stabilizers, e.g. dibutyl tin maleate.
