titleOfInvention Improvements in or relating to hydraulic binders
abstract The setting of hydraulic binders, e.g. Portland cement, slag cement or hydraulic slag, natural cement, calcium aluminate cement, hydraulic lime, and mixtures of lime and puzzolanic materials to form concrete, e.g. cellular concrete elements is accelerated by admixing with them 0,1 to 5% by weight of a finely divided magnesium carbonate, e.g. magnesium alba, together with, if desired 0,01 to 1% by weight of a surface-active substance, e.g. ethanolanime to facilitate wet mixing. The magnesium carbonate may be incorporated by wet or dry grinding with the binding constituents, e.g. blast furnace slag and Portland cement clinker, or alternatively it may be intimately admixed with sand or other siliceous mineral, cement or ground cement clinker, and the mix slurried with water and rendered porous by the addition of a foam or foaming agent, e.g. aluminium powder, thereafter steam-hardening if desired. Other setting regulators, e.g. potash may also be added.
