titleOfInvention Substituted phenothiazinyl trifluoromethyl sulfones
abstract The invention comprises compounds of the class consisting of a free base and its non-toxic salts, the free base having the formula : <FORM:0851886/IV(b)/1> in which A is an alkylene chain having 2-6 carbon atoms and separating the nitrogens to which it is attached by at least 2 carbon atoms; and R1 and R2 represent hydrogen or alkyl having from 1-6 carbon atoms and, when taken together with the nitrogen to which they are attached form a five to six membered heretocyclic ring. Preferred compounds have the formula : <FORM:0851886/IV(b)/2> in which Z is dimethylamino, piperazinyl, alkyl piperazinyl in which the alkyl moiety has 1-6 carbon atoms, alkanoyloxy-alkylene piperazinyl in which the alkanoyl moiety has 1-6 carbon atoms and the alkylene moiety has 2-6 carbon atoms, hydroxyalkyleneoxy-alkylene piperazinyl in which each of the alkylene moieties has from 2-6 carbon atoms or hydroxyalkylene piperazinyl in which the alkylene moiety has 2-6 carbon atoms. The compounds are obtained by condensing a phenothiazinyl trifluoromethyl sulphone with a reactive tertiary aminoalkyl ester having the desired dialkylaminoalkyl group e.g. a dialkylaminoalkyl chloride or bromide ; illustrative products of the invention are 2-trifluoromethylsulphonylphenothiazine's bearing in 10-position 31-dimethylaminopropyl, 31-(411-methyl-111-piperazinyl), 31-(N-b -hydroxylethylpiperazinyl)-propyl, 31(N-b -acetoxyethylpiperazinyl)-propyl, 31-(N-hydroxyethoxyethylpiperazinyl)-propyl, and 21-methyl-31-(411-methyl -11-piperazinyl)-propyl. Specification 851,887 is referred to.
