titleOfInvention A method for the preparation of diamine-n,n-n,n-tetrakisphosphoric acid derivatives
abstract Diamine-N, N, N1, N1-tetrakis-phosphoric acid esters of formula:- [(RO)2P(O)]2NR1N[P(O)(OR)2]2 in which R represents alkyl or aryl groups which may be the same or different and R1 is a bivalent hydrocarbon residue with at least 2 carbon atoms are prepared by reacting diamine-N, N1-bis-phosphoric acid esters of formula :-[(RO)2P(O)]2NR1N[P(O)(OR)2]2 with chlorophosphoric acid diesters in an inert anhydrous solvent in the presence of a stoichiometric amount of sodium hydride. The sodium hydride is preferably used in suspension in an inert liquid hydrocarbon. The products may be added to lubricating agents and hydraulic oils. Examples describe the preparation of (1) ethylenediamine - N, N, N1, N1-tetrakis-phosphoric acid di-i-propyl ester); (2) p-phenylenediaminetetrakis (phosphoric acid di-n-butyl ester) and (3) hexamethylenediamine-tetrakis (phosphoric acid diphenyl ester).
