titleOfInvention New colouration process for cellulosic textile materials
abstract Cellulosic textiles are dyed or printed by applying an aqueous solution containing 0,1-5% by weight of an alkali, and also applying a dyestuff containing a reactive amino group and a water-insoluble s-triazine containing two halogen atoms attached to the triazine ring, and subsequently heating or steaming. The triazine may be applied before, together with or after the dyestuff and the alkali may be applied with the triazine or separately. Specified alkalis are sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, caustic soda and sodium metasilicate. Specified dyestuffs are various substantive, acid and disperse dyes. Specified triazines are 4 : 6-dichloro -2-phenyl -s-triazine, 4 : 6-dichloro -2- methyl -s-triazine and the condensation products of cyanuric halides with amines such as methylamine, diethylamine, b -hydroxy-ethylamine, aniline, p-diethylaminoaniline, and a -naphthylamine, or with alcohols such as methanol, or with phenols, mercaptans or thiophenols such as phenol, b -naphthol, p-cresol, p-thiocresol and p-chlorothiophenol, or with polyfunctional amino-, hydroxyl- or mercapto compounds to yield compounds containing more than one dihalogeno -striazine group, or with aminoazo or aminoanthraquinone compounds to yield coloured triazines. The padding liquors or printing pastes may contain the usual adjuvants such as cellulose ethers, sodium chloride, sodium sulphate, condensation products of ethylene oxide with phenols or fatty alcohols, sulphonated fatty alcohols, sulphonated oils, urea, thiodiglycol, gum arabic, starch, gum tragacanth and sodium alginate. Steaming is preferably effected at 100 DEG -130 DEG C. and heating at 100 DEG -150 DEG C. When the dyestuff or the triazine contains a metal-complex forming system, treatment with a metal-yielding agent such as copper sulphate, chromium acetate, cobalt sulphate, nickel sulphate or ferrous sulphate may also be effected. Numerous examples of dyeing and printing are given.
