titleOfInvention | Improvements in and relating to a process of treating cellulose textile materials for imparting thereto crease-resistant properties |
abstract | Cellulosic textile materials are impregnated with a natural or synthetic rubber latex, dried, treated with an etheric compound containing in its molecule one or more -OCH2Cl groups, again dried and heated. The synthetic rubber may be a copolymer of butadiene and styrene or acrylonitrile. The latex, which may be applied at room temperature, may also contain polyvinyl alcohols, starches, modified starches, cellulose ethers or esters, acrylic polymers, emollients, softeners or waterproofing products. The ether may be applied in organic solution or may be converted into a quaternary compound of pyridine and applied in aqueous solution, the solution containing sodium acetate as buffer or one of the above textile adjuvants. After drying at 50 DEG to 80 DEG C. the textile is heated to 130 DEG to 160 DEG C. In the examples, the ethers used are the pyridinium salt of ethane diol 1,2-dichloromethyl ether, the pyridinium salt of the chloromethyl ether of butyl alcohol, the pyridinium salt of the chloromethyl ether of benzylalcohol and the pyridinium salt of the trichloromethyl ether of glycerine, the materials treated being of cotton. |
