titleOfInvention Stabilized hydrocarbon polymeric materials
abstract Polymers of mono-olefins are stabilized by incorporation of carbon particles and a sulphur compound <FORM:0836664/IV (a)/1> wherein x is 1 to 3, R is alkyl or branched alkyl and R1 is H or alkyl. The polymers may contain random or ordered hydrogen atoms attached to tertiary carbon atoms and may be derived from ethylene, propylene, butene-1, 3-methyl pentene-1 and mixtures thereof. Typical examples of the many sulphur compounds specified are 4,41-thiobis-(6-tertiarybutyl - 3 - methylphenyl) and di - (5 - pentadecyl resorcinol) sulphide. An accelerated ageing test in the presence of oxygen is described and an application specified is as cable sheathing.
