titleOfInvention Improvements in and relating to the manufacture of explosive substances
abstract Lead azide is prepared by adding aqueous solutions of lead acetate and of sodium azide to an aqueous solution of sodium starch glycollate, the compound separating as freeflowing granules.ALSO:Explosive compounds are prepared in aqueous medium in the presence of an alkali metal starch glycollate. (1) An aqueous solution of barium chloride is added to an aqueous solution containing magnesium styphnate and sodium amylopectin glycollate. (3) A solution of sodium amylose glycollate is added to a solution of sodium picramate in dilute hydrochloric acid, sodium nitrite being added to give diazodinitrophenol.
