[Also in Group XXXVI] A wire or strip of copper, nickel, aluminium, steel, iron, platinum, iridium, or their alloys is coated at one end with a bead of tin, indium, or cadmium-indium alloy by electrolysis so that the metal bead is electrodeposited in molten form (see Group XXXVI), and the wire or strip thus " tinned " is soldered to a metal surface by application of heat to melt the soldering metal.
