abstract | The invention comprises 10-hydroxy-16 -carbomethoxy - D 16 - dehydro - yohimbane, its 3 - epimer, 10 - hydroxy - 16 - carbomethoxy - 17 - methoxy - yohimbane, 18 - hydroxy - 16 - carbomethoxy - D 16 - dehydro - yohimbane, and a process for the preparation of monohydroxy derivatives of yohimbane, 3-epiyohimbane, D 16-dehydro-yohimbane, D 16-dehydro-3-epi-yohimbane, their 16-carbalkoxy-, 17-alkoxy- and 16-carbalkoxy-17-alkoxy-derivatives by adding the alkaloid compound to a culture medium in which is grown under submerged aerobic conditions one of the following fungi: Cunninghamella blakesleana, Rhizopus oryzae, R. arrhizus, R. achlamydosporus, R. chinensis, R. circicans, R. delemar, Mucor griseocyanus, Trichothecium roseum, and Mortierella pusilla, the medium containing the nutritional requirements for the growth of fungi of the family Mucoraceae, and isolating the hydroxylated alkaloid which is formed. Detailed examples illustrate the preparation of 10 - hydroxy - apoyohimbine, 18 - hydroxy - apoyohimbine, 10 - hydroxy - 16 - carbomethoxy - 17 - methoxy - yohimbane, 10 - hydroxy - 3 - epi - apoyohimbine and 18 - hydroxy - 3 - epi - apoyohimbine. |
