abstract | The invention comprises a molecular complex of 2 : 6-diamino-5-phenylazopyridine and 4-aminobenzenesulphonyl thiourea in the molecular proportions 1 : 2 and the preparation of this complex by reacting the two components in a molecular ratio of 1 : 2 in a hot, water-miscible reaction medium. Suitably the reaction medium is methanol, ethanol or dioxan. The product is used as an antibacterial and an sthetic agent for example in the treatment of infections of the urinary tract. |
