titleOfInvention Coloured detergents or washing adjuvants
abstract A coloured detergent or scouring composition contains an oxygen-yielding substance, usually in an amount of 4-30 per cent by weight, and a small quantity, usually 0.01-0.1 per cent by weight, of a dyestuff, for example indigo di- or tetra-sulphonate, Basolan blue FG, Basolan blue R, or naphthol green B, which is at least partly decolourized by oxidation during the normal use of the composition. The oxygen-yielding substance may be a perborate, a percarbonate, a perphosphate, an aliphatic or aromatic percarboxylic acid or a salt or ester thereof, a diacyl peroxide or a molecular compound of urea and hydrogen peroxide. Preferred compounds are sodium perborate and sodium monoperoxyphthalate. Magnesium or aluminium silicate may be included as stabilizers. The compositions may also include soap, alkylaryl sulphonate, alkyl sulphate, alkyl or cycloalkyl sulphonate, fatty acid monoglyceride sulphate, ethylene oxide condensates with fatty alcohols or fatty acids or the partial ethers or esters thereof with polyhydric alcohols, sodium carbonate, silicate and sulphate, alkali metal ortho-, pyro-, meta-, and poly-phosphates, alkali metal borates, magnesium sulphate, ethylene diamine tetracetic acid, nitrilo-triacetic acid, starch or cellulose glycolate, alkanolamides of fatty acids of alkylbenzene sulphonic acids, or of alkyl sulphonic acids, optical brighteners and, in the case of scouring compositions, quartz dust.
