titleOfInvention | Mono-azo dyestuffs of the benzene-azo-benzene series |
abstract | The invention comprises dyestuffs of formula <FORM:0806271/IV (c)/1> where X is H, Cl or Br, Y is H, CF3 or alkyl and R is a b -hydroxyethyl or b - or g -hydroxy- or b ,g -dihydroxy-propyl group. They are made in conventional fashion from appropriate diazotized nitranilines and N-oxyalkyl, N-cyanoethyl-anilines. All possible diazo and coupling components are specified and examples provided of the use of certain of them in the production of dyestuffs which dye cellulose acetate rayon in red shades. Fibres of other cellulose esters and polyesters such as polyethylene terephthalate, may also be dyed. An aqueous dispersed dyeing process is adopted and the presence of a carrier such as o-hydroxydiphenyl, may be an advantage. Specification 447,561, [Group IV], is referred to. |
