titleOfInvention Electrodeposition of salts of plutonium
abstract Insoluble plutonium salts are electrodeposited from an aqueous solution of a soluble ionizing plutonium salt by effecting a change in the charge of the plutonium containing ion, the soluble plutonium ionizing salt being in excess in the solution. As described, a layer of plutonium tri- or tetra-fluoride is cathodically deposited on a platinum or other noble metal disc from an aqueous solution of plutonyl nitrate and a soluble fluoride, e.g. sodium fluoride, with a platinum spiral anode serving also as a stirrer. The fluoride deposit may be ignited to form plutonium oxide.
