titleOfInvention | Plasticized hydrolyzed ethylene vinyl ester polymer |
abstract | A plastic composition suitable as a safety glass interlayer, comprises an 80 to 100 per cent hydrolysed interpolymer of ethylene and a vinyl ester of an organic carboxylic acid, e.g. vinyl acetate, in which the molar ratio of ethylene to vinyl ester is from 1.5 to 1 to 5 1, and 20 to 40 per cent by weight of a trialkyl phosphate, or a dialkyl ester of an aryl or alkyl phosphoric acid wherein the alkyl radicals contain from 4 to 12 carbon atoms. Tributyl and trioctyl phosphates, dibutyl and dioctyl isobutenyl phosphonates, dibutyl, dioctyl, and diisobutyl benzene phosphonates and dihexyl hexane phosphonate are mentioned and they may be combined with cross-linking agents as described in Specification 796,573. The compositions may be prepared by admixing in a common solvent, or by milling, may contain stabilizing agents, pigments and dyes, and be moulded, extruded, or cast from solution. Specification 634,140 is referred to. |
