abstract A synthetic resin composition comprises a polymer or copolymer of a halogen-containing vinyl compound, a dialkyl tin dimercaptide of the general formula <FORM:0781906/IV (a)/1> in which R1, R2, R3 and R4 represent identical or different alkyl groups, and a heavy metal compound. The polymer may be polyvinyl chloride or a copolymer of vinyl chloride with vinylidene chloride, vinyl acetate, vinyl propionate or butadiene. The dialkyl tin dimercaptide may be dibutyl tin di-octadecyl-mercaptide, bis-dodecylmercaptide or di-octylmercaptide, or dioctyl tin or bis-dodecyl tin di-butylmercaptide, dioctylmercaptide or bis-dodecylmercaptide. The heavy metal compound may be lead oxide, tribasic lead sulphate or maleate, dibasic lead phthalate or phosphite, basic lead silicate-sulphate, basic lead chlorosilicate, stearate or ricinoleate, lead silicate or cyanamide or cadmium stearate. An example describes a composition containing 75 parts by weight polyvinyl chloride, 0.2 part montan wax, 25 parts dioctyl phthalate, 1.5 parts dioctyl tin bis-dodecyl-mercaptide and 2.25 parts of tribasic lead sulphate.
