titleOfInvention | Improvements in or relating to feed supplements |
abstract | A mineral feed supplement for poultry and livestock feeds comprises a multiplicity of solid granular particles (16-60 mesh), each particle being an intimate mixture of a normally solid wax-like material of melting-point at least 98 DEG F., a vegetable meal, and trace minerals. The wax-like material may be petroleum or vegetable wax or a hydrogenated glyceride, and the vegetable meal may be soya bean meal. The weight proportions are preferably 10-20 per cent wax-like material, 20-50 per cent vegetable meal and 30-70 per cent trace minerals. The supplement may be mixed with a fat-soluble vitamin-containing product. In an example, 8,5 parts of molten microcrystalline wax of melting-point 170 DEG F. were mixed with 35 parts of manganous oxide, cupric hydroxide, red iron oxide, stabilized potassium iodide, and cobalt carbonate, and 16 parts of soya bean meal were stirred in; the mixture was slowly cooled while stirring to yield a granular meal free from dustiness and of 16-60 mesh particle size.ALSO:A mineral feed supplement for foods and pharmaceutical products comprises a multiplicity of solid granular particles (16-60 mesh), each particle being an intimate mixture of a normally solid wax-like material of melting-point at least 98 DEG F., a vegetable meal, and trace minerals.
