abstract | 776,087. Coated fabrics. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER AKT.-GES. Feb. 21, 1955 [Feb. 22, 1954], No. 5141/55. Class 140. Substrates are coated with a solution in an organic solvent of a polyisocyanate-modified polyester containing free hydroxy groups and a polyisocyanate, and the coated substrate heated to a temperature not exceeding 180‹ C. Substrates specified are laminates and films of polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl acetate, nitrocellulose, acetyl cellulose and linseed oil cloth. Polyesters specified are esterification products of ethylene or butylene glycol, trimethyl propane or hexanetriol with adipic acid or phthalic anhydride. Polyisocyanates specified are 2: 4- and 2: 6-toluylene di-isocyanate, hexamethylene di-isocyanate, cyclohexane-1: 4- di-isocyanate, naphthylene-1 : 5-di-isocyanate and triphenylmethanetri-isocyanate. Organic solvents specified are ethyl and butyl acetate, cyclohexanone, dioxan, tetrahydrofuran and methylene chloride. Diethyl ethanolamine, hexamethylene tetramine and hexahydrodimethyl aniline may be used as reactionaccelerators. Acetyl, benzoyl, phthaloyl or isophthaloyl chloride may be used as stabilizer. Other additions are hydrated silica, nitrocellulose, acetyl cellulose and pentachlorophenol. |
