titleOfInvention | Improvements in and relating to magnesium-containing licking stones |
abstract | Magnesium sulphate and magnesium oxide are compressed with the other constituents in forming sodium chloride licking stones. Blocks weighing 10 kg., produced at 1200 kg./cm2. pressure, are referred to. The molecular proportion of sulphate to oxide may be 1 : 2-1 : 5, preferably 1 : 3. The magnesium sulphate is incorporated preferably as the finely ground heptahydrate. Trace elements, exemplified by copper, cobalt and manganese, may be added. If an iodine compound is added, it is added last. The total amount of magnesium may be added as magnesium sulphate, together with sufficient line to convert the desired fraction of sulphate to magnesium oxide. |
