titleOfInvention Process for increasing the durability of textile articles by improving their resistance to abrasion
abstract Cellulosic fibres which have become "degreased" during manufacture, drying or use are treated in a rinsing operation with a lubricant. The lubricant may be an oil, a vegetable or animal wax, a fatty acid, a polyhydric alcohol, a fatty acid ester, a sulphonated oil or a sulphonate of a fatty alcohol or fatty acid amide. The rinsing bath may also include a blue colourant or fluorescent bleaching agent, sodium hexametaphosphate, ammonia, hydrochloric acid, acetic acid, disulphonated oil of spermaceti, zinc chloride, ortho- or parachloro- or bromo-phenol, para-sulphonated ortho-cresol, an insecticide, aluminium acetate, an alginate, gum, a natural or synthetic resin, a perfume, an antistatic protective colloid, an emulsifying agent, an antioxidant, a thickener or a moistening agent. The fibres may be in the form of threads, fabrics or garments and, on issuing from the rinsing operation, may be wrung, dried and heated if the bath contains a resin requiring polymerization. In examples, the bath contains: (1) paraffin oil, polyvinyl acetate and other ingredients; (2) paraffin, triethanolamine, sodium alginate and other ingredients; (3) stearin, gum tragacanth and other ingredients; and (5) a mineral or vegetable oil and polyvinyl acetate or chloride. Specification 705,672 is referred to.
