titleOfInvention Compositions comprising organic sulfide polymers and processes of making such compositions
abstract A lubricating composition comprises a major proportion of a synthetic liquid organic sulphide polymer thickened by dissolving therein a metallic soap and containing a substantially uniform dispersal of carbon black. Organic sulphide polymers mentioned are "Thiokol" liquid polymers Types LP-2 and LP-3 (the word "Thiokol" is a Registered Trade Mark), while soaps mentioned are stearates of lithium, calcium, barium, strontium, magnesium or aluminium, oleates of lithium, calcium, barium, magnesium, aluminium or lead and naphthenates of magnesium, aluminium, lead, zinc or cobalt. In the case of aluminium stearate, the mono-, di- or tri-stearate, or mixtures of these, may be employed. The lubricating composition may also contain mica particles and an odour-masking agent, for example those known commercially as "Neutralizer 1A1" and "Santomask". In the examples, lubricating compositions are described consisting of "Thiokol" LP-2 and LP-3, carbon black, mica and a mixture of aluminium di- and tri-stearates.ALSO:A lubricating composition, especially suitable as a plug valve lubricant and sealing medium, comprises a major proportion of a synthetic liquid organic sulphide polymer thickened by dissolving therein a metallic soap and containing a substantially uniform dispersal of carbon black. In the case of aluminium stearate, the mono-, di-, or tri-stearate, or mixtures of these, may be employed. The lubricating composition may also contain mica particles and an odour-washing agent, for example those known commercially as "Neutralizer IAI" and "Santomash." In the examples, lubricating compositions are described consisting of "Thiokol" LP-2 and LP-3, carbon black, mica and a mixture of aluminium di- and tri-stearates.
