titleOfInvention | Water-insoluble monoazo dyestuffs |
abstract | The invention comprises water-insoluble dyestuffs of formula:-<FORM:0761184/IV(b)/1> which are made by coupling diazotized 1 - amino - 2, 4 - dinitrobenzene with an #s - alkoxyarylamide of 2, 3 - hydroxynaphthoic acid optionally in the presence of a substratum. Arylamides specified are the #s - anisidide and - phenetidide. The dyestuffs are red to bordeaux pigment dyes and may be used for dyeing lacquers, e.g. nitrocellulose and alkyd lacquers, and in oil paints for graphic printing. In examples 1 - amino - 2, 4 - dinitrobenzene is diazotized with nitrosyl sulphuric acid and coupled in alkaline solution with (1) 1 - (21, 31 - hydroxy - naphthoylamino) - 2 - ethoxy - and (2) - methoxy - benzenes in the presence of alkyl sulphonate or alkylpolyglycol emulsifiers or calcined titanium dioxide or barium sulphate. Specification 6379/12 [Class 2(iii) is referred to. |
