Class 80(2) A timing gear for an internal combustion engine comprises an aluminium ring gear 22 and a ferrous limb 28 connected by an annulus 32 of resilient material bonded between them. The annulus 32 may be of rubber, or of butadiene - acrylonitrile copolymer mixtures strengthened by phenolics, or butadiene - styrene copolymers, polychloroprene, &c. A projection 40, Fig. 4, on the hub may be opposite to, but separated from, a groove 42 in the ring gear by the bonded resilient material 32, or projections 56, Fig. 5, on the hub may be opposite to recesses 54 in the ring gear and separated therefrom by the bonded resilient material 58. |
