titleOfInvention Process for the preparation of pharmaceutical preparations active as an antacidum
abstract A pharmaceutical preparation active as an antacidum comprises guar gum and one or more compounds having antacidum activity. Examples of these antacidum compounds are compounds capable of forming a protective layer for the mucosa e.g. mucins, proteins, pectins, sugary substance, and basically reacting substances, e.g. sodium bicarbonate, aluminium hydroxide or aluminium sodium silicate, magnesium oxide, hydroxide, carbonate or trisilicate p and calcium carbonate. The preparation may contain one part by weight of guar gum to four parts by weight of the basically reacting compounds. A granulate containing the basically reacting compounds and a binder e.g. glucose, oatmeal, is mixed with guar gum and common auxiliary materials e.g. starch, talc, sodium cyclamate, magnesium stearate and lemon essence, and the mixture tabletted. The preparation may take the form of a powder or a liquid, and may contain other medicinal substances.
