abstract 743,850. Stencilling-apparatus. ZIMMER, J., [trading as ZIMMER'S ERBEN KOMM.- GES.]. Jan. 19, 1953 [Jan. 18, 1952], No. 1523/53. Class 100 (2). Inking - apparatus.-Apparatus for screen printing of preferably flat webs 1 of textile material or the like comprises a doctor roller 3 to apply the colour to the surface to be printed, the diameter of the doctor roller being very small compared with its length, and one or more supporting rollers of greater diameter being provided to support the doctor roller against bending. The doctor roller 3, Fig. 4, may be provided with two support rollers 7a, 7b or one support roller vertically above it, all carried on a frame 8 having a handle 9. For printing on both sides of a vertically running cloth web 1, Fig. 10, two screens 16 are movable together and apart by cranks 18. Each screen is provided with a colour unit comprising a doctor roller 3 and support rollers 7, 7d, the latter rotating in a colour box 10 and feeding ink to the roller 3. The support rollers may be motor-driven. The colour units are carried on endless chains 14, returning on the outer run thereof during the inoperative stroke while the web is fed the length of the patterns. As shown in Fig. 12, screens 24, 25 are made as cylindrical shells and positively driven, the colour units being stationary. Where a support roller acts as an ink feed roller, it may be provided with circumferential grooves.
