abstract Polymers of alpha-chloroacrylonitrile are dissolved in nitromethane. Polymers specified are the homopolymer and copolymers with vinyl acetate, vinyl and vinylidene chlorides, acrylic acid, ethyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, dimethyl fumarate, maleic acid, styrene, isobutene, butadiene, and vinyl pyridine, the copolymers preferably containing at least 85 per cent of chloroacrylonitrile units. Films and fibres may be prepared from the polymer solutions. Specification 741,239 is referred to.
