titleOfInvention | A process for the production of alkylene-alkylidene- or aralkylidene-bis-carboxylic acid amides |
abstract | Alkylene-, alkylidene- or aralkylidene-bis-carboxylic acid amides are obtained by reacting a saturated aliphatic or aromatic mononitrile, substituted by halogen or carboxyl, with an aldehyde in the presence of hydrochloric, hydrobromic, formic or acetic acid and water in the liquid phase. In the examples: (a) hydrogen chloride gas is led into a mixture of p-chlorpropionitrile, aqueous formaldehyde and concentrated hydrochloric acid to give a compound of formula CH2(NHCOCH2CH2Cl)2; (b) hydrogen chloride is passed into a mixture of cyanovalerianic acid, acetaldehyde, water and concentrated hydrochloric acid; the mixture is neutralized with ammonia to give the ammonium salt of <FORM:0726937/IV (b)/1> (c) hydrogen chloride is led into a mixture of acetonitrile, aqueous formaldehyde and concentrated hydrochloric acid to give (CH3CO NH)2CH2; (d) hydrogen bromide is passed into a mixture of o-chlorbenzonitrile, aqueous formaldehyde and concentrated hydrobromic acid to give the compound (o.Cl.C6H4.CONH)2 CH2; (e) hydrogen bromide is passed into a mixture of o-chlorbenzonitrile, acetaldehyde, water and concentrated hydrobromic acid to give (o-ClC6H4CONH)2CH.CH3. |
