abstract | The invention comprises 3b ,11a -diacyloxy-5-pregnene-7.20-dione and the preparation thereof by reacting 3b ,11a -dihydroxy-5-pregnene-7,20-dione with an acylating agent, e.g. a carboxylic acid anhydride. Examples disclose the production of 3b ,11a -diacetoxy-, dipropionyloxy-, dibenzoxy-, dihexanoyloxy-, and di(b -cyclopentylpropionyloxy) - 5 - pregnene - 7,20 - dione. 3b 11a - dihydroxy - 5 - pregnene - 7,20 - dione is obtained by oxygenating 3b -hydroxy-5-pregnene-20- one by means of a culture of the fungus Rhizopus arrhigus. Specification 724,094 is referred to. |
