titleOfInvention Process for preparing mobile carbohydrates
abstract Powdered dextrins and starches, e.g. flours and meals, are made more mobile by treating them with about 0.1 to 5.0, preferably 0.1 to 0.25 per cent. of their weight of at least one of the following salts;-tricalcium phosphate, calcium phytate, calcium pyrophosphate, magnesium phosphate. The treatment may be carried out in an aqueous slurry or by dry-blending. An aqueous slurry of starch containing tricalcium phosphate may be filtered, dried and then powdered. Tricalcium phosphate may be formed in the slurry by adding lime and phosphoric acid. Alternatively, tricalcium phosphate may be added in the form of phosphate cake produced in the manufacture of inositol. Specification 684,038 is referred to.ALSO:In a process for making powdered sugars, e.g. dextrose, synthetic dextrose polymers and synthetic polysaccharides, more mobile, they are treated with about 0.1 to 5.0, preferably 0.1 to 0.25, per cent of their weight of at least one of the following salts: tricalcium phosphate, calcium phytate, calcium pyrophosphate, magnesium phosphate. The treatment may be carried out in an aqueous slurry or by dry-blending. Tricalcium phosphate may be formed in the slurry by adding lime and phosphoric acid. Alternatively, tricalcium phosphate may be added in the form of phosphate cake produced in the manufacture of inositol. Specification 684,038, [Group V], is referred to.
