titleOfInvention | Improvements in and relating to dynamo-electric machines |
abstract | 708,784. Dynamo-electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. May 26, 1952 [May 26, 1951], No. 13276/52. Class 35 A motor or generator has a permanent magnet ro'tor comprising a number of rectangular magnets 17 arranged around flat surfaces of a central member 18, and metal 20 cast in situ about the laminated pole shoes 16 and the magnets 17. The pole shoes 16 have flanges 16f (overhanging the magnets 17) on which bolts 21 engage so as to clamp the magnets 17 by arranging the bolts 21 to pass outside the magnets and to engage tapped holes 18h in end shoulders 18a, 18b of the member 18. Moreover, the pole-shoe laminations 16p and end brackets 16b are held together by rivets 16r. A squirrel-cage winding is formed by allowing some of the cast non- ferrous metal 20 to fill the slots 16s as well as completely cover the bolts 21 and the flange portions 16f to secure all the parts against centrifugal action. |
