titleOfInvention | Improvements in or relating to processes for making cellular bodies |
abstract | In the process of making cellular materials by expanding with gas, hydrogen is used as the gas. Specified materials are polyvinyl chloride and polyvinyl acetate, butyrate, alcohol, formal and butyral, polvinylidene chloride, copolymers of vinylidene chloride and vinyl chloride, polystyrene, polydichlorostyrene, polyalphamethylstyrene, polymethylacrylate, polyethylacrylate and polymethylmethacrylate. The hydrogen may be used alone or mixed with nitrogen or argon and also if desired with such blowing agents as azoisodinitributyric acid, a -a 1-azobisisobutyronitrilie, diazoaminobenzene, 1:3-bis-(o-xenyl)-triazine, 1:3-bis-(p-xenyl)-triazine, sodium bicarbonate with oleic acid, ammonium carbonate and mixtures of ammonium chloride and sodium nitrite. Plasticizers such as dimethyl, dibutyl, or dioctyl phthalate or tricresyl phosphate and solvents such as methylethylketone and acetone may be present. |
