titleOfInvention Improvements relating to the manufacture of dry surface contact rectifiers
abstract 704,398. Dry plate rectifiers. WESTING- HOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO., Ltd., JENKINS, A., and SMITH, C. H. June 18, 1952 [June 19, 1951], No. 14493/51. Class 37 A dry plate rectifier comprises an electrode composed wholly or mainly of lead peroxide applied to a body composed mainly or wholly of titanium dioxide or stannic dioxide in non- stiochiometric form, the oxygen deficiency at the body surface being wholly or partly made good. The body may consist of a metal titanate (e.g. CuTiO 3 ) or a mixture of titanium dioxide and other oxides, e.g. cupric oxide. The oxygen deficiency may be made good either before or after application of the electrode and may be achieved by electro-forming treatment of the rectifier with or without the supply of additional heat. Alternatively the surface of the titanium dioxide body may first be provided with a copper or other metal titanate. The Provisional Specification refers to the use of stannic oxide, zinc oxide and lead monoxide, in place of the lead peroxide.
