titleOfInvention | Improvements in or relating to modified organosilicon resins |
abstract | A resinous composition consists essentially of (1) the reaction product of 65 to 80 per cent. by weight of a resinous material having the composition 65 to 75 mol. per cent. of an alkoxyphenylmethylsiloxane and 35 to 25 mol. per cent. of an alkoxy - monophenylsiloxane. 10 to 17.5 per cent. of glycerine, and 10 to 17.5 per cent. of phthalic anhydride, and (2) a butylated melamine-formaldehyde resin in amount to give 85 to 97.5 per cent. of (1) and 2.5 to 15 per cent. of (2). Component (1) may be made according to Specification 691,014. The compositions may be made by dissolving the resins in solvents, e.g. xylene, toluene, ketones and ethers, a mixture of xylene and butanol being preferred for the melamine resin, mixing the solutions and removing the solvent. Examples are given. The compositions are used as high temperature electrical varnishes. Specification 633,599 also is referred to. |
