titleOfInvention Deodorising agents
abstract A deodorant composition comprises chlorophyll and one of the following non-volatile germicides or fungicides: a non-volatile fungicidal or germicidal organic quaternary ammonium salt or nuclear substituted diphenylmethane, b -phenoxyethyl alcohol, mono-phenylether of propylene glycol, mono-p-chlorphenylether of ethylene glycol, p-chlor m-xylenol, p-chlor m-cresol, sodium pentachlorphenate or octyl cresol. A synergistic effect is alleged between the chlorophyll and each of germicides and fungicides specified. Suitable quaternary ammonium salts are cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide, di-isobutyl (or p-tertiaryacetyl) phenoxy-ethoxy ammonium bromide, ethyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride and di-isobutylcresoxyethoxy dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride. Suitable diphenylmethanes are 2,21-dihydroxy-3,5,6-31,51, 61-hexachlorodiphenzylmethane and 2,21-dihydroxy-5,51-dichlorodiphenylmethane. The chlorophyll may be oil-, water- or alcohol-soluble and may be a copper, sodium, magnesium, sodium-copper, sodium-iron or sodium-magnesium derivative, e.g. a chlorophyllin. The composition may be dissolved in a solvent or suspended in a liquid medium, incorporated in a cream for personal application, incorporated with a solid diluent in a dusting powder, or compressed with a water-soluble diluent into a tablet adapted to be dissolved in water. Other ingredients which may be present include: isopropyl alcohol, mineral oil, white petroleum jelly, calcium or zinc stearate, ethylene glycol laurate, lactose, ammonium sulphate, calcium carbonate and talc. Specification 617,419 is referred to.
