titleOfInvention | Neutral esters of thiophosphoric acid |
abstract | The invention comprises neutral esters of thiophosphoric acid of the general formula <FORM:0697120/IV (b)/1> wherein R1 and R2 stand for alkyl radicals which may be alike or different, "alk." stands for a straight or branched chain alkylene radical which may be interrupted by an oxygen or sulphur atom, and R stands for an alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, aralkyl or aryl radical or for another group <FORM:0697120/IV (b)/2> The esters are obtained by reacting dialkyl chlorothiophosphates with compounds of the formula HO.alk.SR either as their salts or in the presence of an acid binding agent, and in the presence of a solvent. Metallic copper may be used as a catalyst. In examples: (1) O,O-dimethyl O-methylmercaptoethyl thiophosphate is prepared by reacting dimethyl chlorothiophosphate and the sodium derivative of b -hydroxy-ethyl methyl sulphide; (2) O,O-diethyl O-methylmercapto-ethyl thiophosphate is prepared similarly; (3) O,O-diethyl O-ethylmercapto-ethyl thiophosphate is prepared by reacting b -hydroxyethyl ethyl sulphide and diethyl chlorothiophosphate in the presence of sodium carbonate and copper powder. Similarly prepared are compounds of the first general formula above in which R1 and R2 are ethyl radicals, "alk." represents an alkylene radical and R represents ethyl, p-tolyl, phenyl, benzyl, b -hydroxy-ethyl, n-propyl, n-butyl, n-hexyl radicals or the group (C2H5O)2PS.O. CH2CH2-, and also compounds in which R, R1 and R2 are ethyl radicals and "alk." represents a butylene or isopropylene radical. Also specified are for R1 and R2 methyl and propyl, for "alk." the groups methylene, methylpropylene, -CH2CH2OCH2CH2-, -CH2CH2 S.CH2CH2-, and for R, methyl, propyl or butyl groups. |
