titleOfInvention | A process of forming benzene hexachloride in benzene solution |
abstract | Benzene hexachloride having an increased percentage of gamma isomer is produced by reacting benzene and chlorine under irradiation with actinic light in admixture with 0.001 to 0.3 per cent of a nitrotoluene (e.g. 2 : 4-dinitro-, 2 : 6-dinitro-, trinitro- or paranitro-, toluene) at a temperature of 30 DEG to 65 DEG C. In an example benzene is reacted with chlorine at 50 DEG C. in the presence of 2 : 4-dinitrotoluene. |
