titleOfInvention Mine signalling device
abstract 690,058. Electric selective signalling. METRA, NARODNI PODNIK, and BARVITIUS, F. Sept. 5, 1950 [Sept. 19, 1949], No. 21891/50. Class 40 (i). In a known mine signalling system each impulse received from the hauling level lights one lamp in a row 1a, 2a &c. while' each received from the driving level lights one lamp in a corresponding row 1b, 2b &c. both rows being situated in a panel with the tachograph A. The engineer operates the hoist on agreement of the number of lamps lit in each row. This system is modified to avoid the danger of the same lamp in each row corresponding to the last impulse of a signal failing, and thus giving a false indication, by arranging that each impulse lights one lamp and extinguishes the previous one so that on failure of a lamp no indication at all exists. At each signalling position each closure of a switch a operates through a relay' b and ratchet mechanism e a stepping switch g to light successively each of lamps 1 to 7 according to the number of impulses transmitted and at the same time sounds a single stroke bell z. This system may be applied to only one of the rows of lamps. Some disagreeing signals from the two sources are allowable and these are indicated by colouring corresponding bulbs in each row e.g. 4a, 5b and 5a, 4b.
