titleOfInvention | Improved method of producing artificial resins |
abstract | The benzol fraction containing styrene, indene and coumarone is polymerized by the catalytic action of a mixture of boron trifluoride, hydrofluoric acid and fluoroboric acid, which mixture is preferably prepared by heating a mixture of calcium fluoride, boric acid and sulphuric acid. After polymerization, the unreacted hydrocarbons are removed, preferably by distillation.ALSO:A mixture of boron trifluoride, hydrofluoric acid and fluorboric acid is used as a catalyst in the polymerization of the benzol fraction containing styrene, indene and coumarone. The catalyst may be prepared by heating a mixture of calcium fluoride, boric acid and sulphuric acid and may be dissolved in the hydrocarbon mixture before polymerization. |
