titleOfInvention Improvements in or relating to dentifrices
abstract A dentifrice comprises from 0.5 to 45 per cent by weight of an organopolysiloxane having an average of from 1 to 3 monovalent hydrocarbon alkyl, aryl, or aralkyl, from 0.5 to 99.0 per cent by weight of a dentifrice abrasive, from 0.5 to 10 per cent by weight of a non-toxic detergent, and optionally up to 50 per cent by weight of a non-toxic inert diluent, up to 20 per cent by weight of a non-toxic emulsifying agent and up to 98.5 per cent of water. The composition may also contain antiseptics and flavouring, perfuming and colouring agents. The siloxanes may contain methyl, ethyl, butyl, octadecyl, phenyl, tolyl, chlorophenyl, xenyl, or benzyl radicals. Specific siloxanes mentioned are trimethylsiloxy end-blocked dimethylpolysiloxane having a viscosity of 100 centistokes at 25 DEG C., octaethyl-cyclotetrasiloxane, phenyl-methylpolysiloxane (500 centistokes viscosity), benzylmethylpolysiloxane, and octadecylsilsesquioxane. Specified abrasives are Ca2P2 O6.2H2O, Ca2P2O6, MgCO3, CaCO3, TiO2, talc, and bone-ash. Specified detergents are the sodium salt of lauryl sulphate, glyceryl sulphoacetate and castile soap. Non-toxic diluents include glycerine, polyethylene glycol, propylene glycol and butyl stearate. Non-toxic emulsifying agents include glyceryl mono-oleate, mono-laurate, mono-stearate, or oleo stearate, propylene glycol mono-laurate, tragacanth, gum arabic, karaya, locust bean, amides of sulphonated fatty acids, starch, glyceride of starch, gelatine, methyl cellulose, colloidal clays and chicle. Flavouring agents mentioned are oils of wintergreen, peppermint, clove, sage, sassafras, lemon, and marjoram and materials such as succrose, saccharin, caramel, and cinnamon. Specified antiseptics are boric acid, benzoic acid, zinc chloride, sodium chloride, thymol, zinc phenol sulphonate, and hexyl resorcinol. The product may be a powder, paste or liquid.ALSO:A dentifrice comprises from 0.5 to 45 per cent by weight of an organopolysiloxane having an average of from 1 to 3 monovalent hydrocarbon radicals per silicon atom, said radicals being alkyl, aryl, or arakyl, from 0.5 to 99.0 per cent by weight of a dentifrice abrasive, from 0.5 to 10 per cent by weight of a non-toxic detergent, and optionally up to 50 per cent by weight of a non-toxic inert diluent, up to 20 per cent by weightof a non-toxic emulsifying agent and up to 98.5 per cent of water.
