titleOfInvention | Improvements in or relating to ink compositions |
abstract | Steam-setting printing-inks which can be removed from the printing-press by washing with aqueous materials comprise a water-immiscible resinous binder dispersible or soluble in a carrier comprising a glycol or polyglycol or ether or ester derivatives thereof, a non-ionic surface-active material comprising a partial ester of a long-chain fatty acid, a partial ether of a polyhydric alcohol with a long-chain fatty alcohol, or a condensation product of ethylene oxide or polyethylene oxide with a long-chain fatty ester, amide alcohol or mercaptan. Surface-active agents specified are di-(polyoxyethylene) lauramide, polyoxyethylene octadecyl ether, polyoxyalkylene ether of oleic acid esters, sorbitol cetyl ether, sorbitol monoleate, pentaerythritol monostearate. Examples of suitable compositions are: (1) orange pigment 2.1 parts, monastral pigment 6.6 parts, benzidine yellow 2.5 parts, china clay 4.2 parts, blanc fixe 4.2 parts, rosin-maleic anhydride resin 18 parts, diethylene glycol 37 parts, rosin 9.4 parts, paraffin wax 1.3 parts, surface-active agent 11.7 parts, solid polyglycol 1 part, mono calcium phosphate 1.0 part; (3) Lithol Red pigment 24 parts, Red Lake C pigment 4.3 parts, shellac 22.2 parts, diethylene glycol 33.2 parts, polyethylene oxide fatty acid amide condensate 13.8 parts, wax 2 parts; (4) as in (3) with the addition of rosin. Specification 663,918 is referred to. |
