titleOfInvention Process for the production of black leather dyestuffs
abstract Black leather dyestuffs are obtained by treating a trisazo dyestuff of the formula <FORM:0667225/IV (c)/1> with a benzoyl halide, benzene carboxylic acid anhydride or benzene sulphonic acid halide; in in the formula, A is the radical of an unsulphonated primary 1 : 3-diamine of the benzene series, B is the radical from a tetrazotized substantive 4 : 41-diaminodiphenyl and C is the radical from a diazotized aminobenzene sulphonic acid; 0.8-1.2 mols. of acylating agent are used for each mol. of dyestuff. The benzene rings in the dyestuff and the acylating agent may be substituted, e.g. by halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or nitro groups. Suitable acylating agents are mentioned. In the examples, trisazo dyestuffs are made from the following components and then acylated: (A) 1 : 3-diaminobenzene, 2 : 4 - diaminotoluene, and 2 : 4 - diamino - chlorobenzene; (B) benzidine, 3 : 31 - tolidine, 3 : 31 - dianisidine, 3 : 31-dichlorobenzidine, benzidine-3-sulphonic acid and benzidine-3 : 31-disulphonic acid; (C) sulphanilic acid, metanilic acid, p-toluidine-2-sulphonic acid, o-toluidine-4-sulphonic acid, aniline - 2 : 5 - disulphonic acid, 4 - chloraniline - 3 - sulphonic acid, o - anisidine - 5-sulphonic acid, 2 - chloraniline - 5 - sulphonic acid, 4 - acetylamino - aniline - 2 - and 3-sulphonic acids, 2 : 5-dichloraniline-4-sulphonic acid and 4-amino-m-xylene-5-sulphonic acid. A further example is given of the dyeing of leather.
