titleOfInvention | Process of producing sponges of gelatine and the like proteins |
abstract | Sponges, particularly for use for absorbing blood and excretions, are formed by dissolving gelatine or like proteins having no anti-genetic action, such as human plasma or fibrinogen or de-antigenized animal proteins, in water containing a hardening-agent such as formaldehyde, introducing air or like gas and drying the resulting foam, a surface-active agent, e.g. sulphonated lauryl alcohol or p-amino-benzene-sulphonamido-thiazole having been added at any time prior to drying. A blood-coagulant and an antibacterial substance may be incorporated.ALSO:Sponges, particularly for use for absorbing blood and excretions, are formed by dissolving gelatine or like proteins having no antigenetic action, such as human plasma or fibrinogen or de-antigenized animal proteins, in water containing a hardening-agent such as formaldehyde, introducing air or like gas and drying the resulting foam, a surface-active agent, e.g. sulphonated lauryl alcohol or p-amino-benzene-sulphonamido-thiazole having been added at any time prior to drying.
