titleOfInvention Process of producing sponges of gelatine and the like proteins
abstract Sponges, particularly for use for absorbing blood and excretions, are formed by dissolving gelatine or like proteins having no anti-genetic action, such as human plasma or fibrinogen or de-antigenized animal proteins, in water containing a hardening-agent such as formaldehyde, introducing air or like gas and drying the resulting foam, a surface-active agent, e.g. sulphonated lauryl alcohol or p-amino-benzene-sulphonamido-thiazole having been added at any time prior to drying. A blood-coagulant and an antibacterial substance may be incorporated.ALSO:Sponges, particularly for use for absorbing blood and excretions, are formed by dissolving gelatine or like proteins having no antigenetic action, such as human plasma or fibrinogen or de-antigenized animal proteins, in water containing a hardening-agent such as formaldehyde, introducing air or like gas and drying the resulting foam, a surface-active agent, e.g. sulphonated lauryl alcohol or p-amino-benzene-sulphonamido-thiazole having been added at any time prior to drying.
