titleOfInvention Improvements in or relating to adhesive preparations for medical and like use and methods of obtaining the same
abstract An adhesive preparation is made by suspending a hygroscopic, transdermally biologically active substance in a solution of a water insoluble but water permeable cellulose ether in an inert organic solvent. In one example 5 grams of ethyl cellulose is dissolved in a mixture of 8 volumes of dry carbon tetrachloride and 2 volumes of dry chloroform. Twenty grams of dry powdered autolytic tuberculin is stirred in to give a uniform suspension. This last substance may be prepared as described in Specification 632,672. The preparation may be applied to the skin and allowed to dry or it may be dried to form a film which is cut to convenient sizes and stored. In the latter form it is applied to the skin by softening with a drop of chloroform.
