| abstract | Fats, fatty oils and oleaginous materials contain as an anti-oxidant for preventing rancidity, a small proportion of nordihydroguaiaretic acid, i.e. b -g -dimethyl, a -d -bis-(3.4-dihydroxyphenyl) butane or a plant extract containing this compound. Fatty materials specified comprise butter, tallow, shortenings, particularly lard, wool fat, cotton seed oil, corn oil, soya bean oil, fish liver oils, edible hydrogenated animal and vegetable oils, meat, fish and other fat-containing foods, cosmetics and other fatty pharmaceuticals. The additive may be dissolved in alcohol as a carrier.
