titleOfInvention | Improvements in printing inks |
abstract | Printing ink compositions comprise colouring material, a solvent therefor consisting of a straight chain alkane diol containing 5-8 C atoms and a synthetic resin soluble in the solvent. Synthetic resins specified are polymerized, limed and zincated rosins, rosin-maleic adducts, urea and phenol-aldehyde resins. Alkane diols specified are hexanediol-2.5, 2-methyl pentane diol-2,4, heptanediol-2.4 and 2-ethyl hexanediol-1.3. Compositions specified are (1a) carbon black, rosin-maleic adduct, 2-methyl-pentanediol; (1b) red lake C, benzidine yellow, rosin-maleic adduct 2-methyl pentanediol-2.4; (3a) pigment and a resin formed by reacting urea and 37 per cent formaldehyde in ethyl alcohol, the alcohol being solvent interchanged with 2-methyl pentanediol-2.4. |
