abstract Nitropolystyrene is used as the binding agent for the deflagrating composition in the match-head of an electric fuzehead. The match-head is formed by repeated dipping in a composition comprising one or more ignition compounds, e.g. copper acetylide and the basic lead salts of picric acid, of mononitroresorcinol, of dinitroresorcinol and of 3 : 4-dinitro-o-cresol, homogeneously distributed in a solution of a nitropolystyrene in an organic solvent such as cyclohexanone. A flashing composition of charcoal and potassium chlorate in the nitropolystyrene solution may then be applied. Protective coatings may be formed by further dipping into solutions of the nitropolystyrene alone. Specification 616,453 is referred to.
