abstract | Polyvinyl resins are stabilized by admixing therewith an alcoholate of tin. Resins specified are polyvinyl acetate, butyrate, chloride and butyral and polystyrene. Tin ethylate and hexylate are specified. The mixing may be carried out using a common solvent such as benzene. Plasticized vinyl resin coatings may be treated by a spray of the alcoholate in a solvent. The composition may be pressed into plates or injection moulded. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also the use of other heavy metal alcoholates excepting those of the alkaline earth metals.
