titleOfInvention | Improvements in or relating to the production of aldehyde condensation products of 2-aminoalkanes |
abstract | Aldehyde condensation products of 2-aminoalkanes, having the general formula <FORM:0596471/IV/1> wherein R1 represents alkyl and R2 represents a hydrocarbon group, are obtained by reacting 2-aminoalkanes containing from 6 to 9 carbon atoms per molecule with a selected aldehyde and distilling the residue. The products exert vasoconstrictive activity. In examples: (1) 2-aminohexane is reacted with benzaldehyde at zero to obtain 2-benzolaminohexane; 2-aminoheptane is reacted with (2) benzaldehyde; (3) propionaldehyde; (4) n-butyraldehyde; (5) acetaldehyde; (6) 2-amino-4-methylhexane is reacted with propionaldehyde; (7) 2-amino-5-methylhexane is reacted with benzaldehyde; (8) 2-amino-4-methylheptane is reacted with isobutyraldehyde; (9) 2 - amino - 6 - methyl - heptane is reacted with propionaldehyde; and (10) 2-amino-4 : 6-dimethylheptane is reacted with propionaldehyde, to obtain the corresponding condensation products.ALSO:Aldehyde condensation products of 2-amino-alkanes containing from 6 to 9 carbon atoms per molecule, having the general formula <FORM:0596471/VI/1> wherein R1 represents alkyl and R2 represents a hydrocarbon group, and obtained by mixing the reactants together and distilling the residue, are (a) dissolved in an extending medium such as propylene glycol, optionally aqueous, for parentual administration; (b) adapted for topical application in inhalant compounds or ointment, as in the examples: (1) 2-propionalaminoheptane is incorporated with menthol, camphor, oil of thyme and liquid petrolatum, to furnish an inhalant; (2) 2-propionalamino-4-methylhexane is incorporated with menthol, camphor, oil of wintergreen, anhydrous wool fat, liquid petrolatum and white petrolatum, to furnish an ointment. |
