titleOfInvention Process for producing 2-aminopyrimidine
abstract 2-Aminopyrimidine is made by subjecting 2-amino-4-chloropyrimidine to the action of metallic zinc in an aqueous alkaline medium in the presence of activated carbon (preferred), charcoal, silica gel or diatomaceous earth. In the example, 2-amino-4-chloropyrimidine is heated with zinc dust and activated carbon in an aqueous solution of sodium bicarbonate and ammonium hydroxide. Specifications 551,677 and 552,101 are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the production of substituted 2-aminopyrimidines from substituted 2-aminochloropyrimidines. In a further example, 2 - amino - 4 - methyl - 6 - chloropyrimidine (obtained by the action of phosphorus oxychloride on the 6-hydroxy compound) is treated as in the example above to produce 2-amino-4-methylpyrimidine. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
