titleOfInvention | Improvements in apparatus for rendering saline water potable |
abstract | 576,970. Cans ; stoppers. PERMUTIT CO., Ltd., PEMBERTON, R. T., and HOLMES, E. L. Dec. 30, 1941, No. 16798. [Classes 66, 125 (i) and 125 (iii)] [Also in Group I] A container 1, in which sea or other saline water may be shaken with granular material to render it potable, e.g., as described in Specification 576,969, [Group I], comprises rigid detachable end caps 2, 11, provided with a drinking spout 9 and a vent 12 respectively, and a filter paper or pad 6 arranged so that only filtered liquid can pass through the spout. As shown, the filter pad 6 is clamped between the screw cover 2 and a flange 4. When not in use, the cover 2 may be reversed to protect the spout. The vent 12 may be provided with a stopper or a non-return valve, preferably a slit rubber disc 13. Spare cartridges of granular material and filter pads may be stored in the container. Alternatively, the filter pad may be clamped in the cap 2 by a separate detachable element. The Provisional Specification states also that identical caps, each provided with a spout, may be fitted. |
